SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois
3 learned with regret of the death of Evelyn (McCarty) Weger of
4 Benton on Wednesday, July 6, 2004; and
 
5     WHEREAS, She was born on August 19, 1913, in Akin to Roy
6 and Julia (Craddock) McCarty; she attended Benton schools and
7 graduated from Benton Township High School in 1932; after
8 attending Southern Illinois State Normal University for a short
9 time, she worked at Benton Township High School as office
10 secretary for eleven years, from 1937 until 1948; she was very
11 happy in her tenure there and always seemed to remember every
12 student who attended school during this time; and
 
13     WHEREAS, It was in her position at Benton Township High
14 School that she met her future husband, Russell, when he moved
15 to Benton to teach agriculture; they were married on May 28,
16 1949, in St. Louis, and he preceded her in death on July 9,
17 1995; and
 
18     WHEREAS, Although Mrs. Weger was a native of Benton, she
19 also lived in Nokomis and Okawville before moving to Mulberry
20 Grove in 1962; she and her husband lived there until his death,
21 and shortly thereafter she moved back to Benton to be closer to
22 family; she was active for many years in school, community, and
23 church activities, and most recently was a member of Benton
24 First United Methodist Church; and
 
25     WHEREAS, The passing of Evelyn McCarty Weger has been
26 deeply felt by many, especially her daughters, Laura Weger and
27 Mary and husband Bobby Blondi; her grandchildren, Andrea Blondi
28 and her boyfriend Josh Cleaver, Brett Blondi and wife Kortni,
29 and Robby Blondi and his girlfriend Lindsey Shurtz; her
30 sisters, Nancy Hodack and Martha Williams; her brother, Joe
31 McCarty; her sisters-in-law, Marjorie McCarty, Kathryn

1 McCarty, and Frances (Weger) Scarborough; her stepsister,
2 Rosemary (Glover) Glidewell; her stepbrother, George Glover;
3 and her many wonderful nieces, nephews, and many, many cousins;
4 she was preceded in death by her parents; her stepmother, Pearl
5 (Glover) McCarty; her husband, Russell; her son, William
6 Michael Weger; and her brothers, Ike and Mike McCarty;
7 therefore, be it
 
8     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL
9 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
10 Evelyn McCarty Weger, and we extend our sincere condolences to
11 her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
12 further
 
13     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14 presented to her family as an expression of our deepest
15 sympathy.
