SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
745 ILCS 49/27 new

    Amends the Good Samaritan Act. Provides immunity against criminal liability, civil damages, or medical malpractice damages for any acts or omissions, for any physician licensed under the Medical Practice Act of 1987 to practice medicine in all its branches or licensed to practice the treatment of human ailments in any other state or territory of the United States; any dental emergency responder; any licensed nurse; any licensed physicians assistant; any licensed EMT-Basic, EMT-Intermediate, or EMT-Paramedic; and any First Responder who provides volunteer Tactical Emergency Medical Support (TEMS) services to any person or animal in any law enforcement incident or training situation, or any other law enforcement related situation, including disasters, in civil unrest, or methamphetamine lab interdiction.

1     AN ACT concerning immunity.
 
2     Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
 
4     Section 5. The Good Samaritan Act is amended by adding
5 Section 27 as follows:
 
6     (745 ILCS 49/27 new)
7     Sec. 27. Exemption from civil liability for medical
8 assistance during any law enforcement incident or disaster. Any
9 physician licensed under the Medical Practice Act of 1987 to
10 practice medicine in all its branches or licensed to practice
11 medicine in Illinois or any other state or territory of the
12 United States, any dental emergency responder, any physicians
13 assistant licensed under the Physicians Assistants Practice
14 Act of 1987, any nurse licensed under the Nursing and Advanced
15 Practice Nursing Act, any "Emergency Medical
16 Technician-Basic", "Emergency Medical
17 Technician-Intermediate", "Emergency Medical
18 Technician-Paramedic", or "First Responder", as those terms
19 are defined in the Emergency Medical Services Systems Act, who
20 provides volunteer Tactical Emergency Medical Support (TEMS)
21 services to any person or animal in any law enforcement
22 incident or training situation or in any other law enforcement
23 related situation including, but not limited to, any natural or
24 man-made disaster, civil unrest, or methamphetamine lab
25 interdiction shall not, as a result of his or her acts or
26 omissions, be liable for criminal prosecution, civil damages,
27 or medical malpractice damages.
