HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the
3 State of Illinois learned with deep sadness of the untimely
4 death of Anthony J. "Tony" Hosey on Monday, April 25, 2005; and
 
5     WHEREAS, He was a five year veteran of the Illinois State
6 University Police Department, assigned to the Illinois State
7 Police Task Force 6 Bloomington; he graduated from Illinois
8 State University with a degree in Therapeutic Recreation
9 Administration in August of 1992; he was a member of the
10 Fraternal Order of Police and an Active Member of Omega Psi Phi
11 at Illinois State University; and
 
12     WHEREAS, He was appointed to the Illinois State University
13 Police Department on July 5, 2000, and was assigned to the
14 Patrol Division; he had previously served with the Robbins
15 Police Department and was a graduate of the Cook County
16 Sheriff's Police Academy; he was subsequently assigned to the
17 Illinois State University Police, Criminal Investigation
18 Division, where he was detailed to Task Force 6, a covert
19 narcotics suppression unit; and
 
20     WHEREAS, Detective Inspector Hosey was the only officer in
21 the last 22 years to receive one of the Department's highest
22 honors in consecutive years; he was the recipient of the
23 "Chief's Award of Merit - Meritorious Service Medal" in both
24 2003 and 2004; and
 
25     WHEREAS, He received the award in 2003 for his role in
26 "Operation Shakespeare", which resulted in four Class X arrests
27 and the seizure of massive amounts of illegal drugs; in 2004,
28 he received the award for the arrest of five individuals who
29 had sold 500 units of Ecstasy or Methylenedioxymethamphetamine
30 (MDMA) on campus and five other individuals selling and
31 possessing marijuana; and

1     WHEREAS, Detective Hosey exemplified the highest
2 traditions of the police service; he was a gentleman and a
3 professional; and
 
4     WHEREAS, The passing of Detective Inspector Anthony J.
5 "Tony" Hosey has been deeply felt by many, especially his wife,
6 Shannon, nee McGinnis; his four children; his parents, Hattie
7 Hosey and Henry Carr; his siblings, Vicky Hosey and Michael
8 (Cherrice) Hosey; and his many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews,
9 and cousins; therefore, be it
 
10     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
11 NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
12 we mourn the passing of Detective Inspector Anthony J. "Tony"
13 Hosey, who was taken from this life at much too young an age,
14 and we extend our deepest sympathy to his family, friends, and
15 all who knew and loved him; and be it further
 
16     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17 presented to his family as an expression of our sincere
18 condolences.
