HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that four schools in
3 Central Illinois have earned Illinois Honor Roll awards given
4 by the Illinois State Board of Education and Northern Illinois
5 University; and
 
6     WHEREAS, Webber High School in Bluford received an Academic
7 Improvement award for showing significant gains in academic
8 performance for three consecutive years; schools earning this
9 award made adequate yearly progress, showed an upward trend in
10 test results, made significant academic improvement by showing
11 at least 7.5 point increase in State test scores over last year
12 or 15 points over three years, or earned removal from the
13 Academic Warning List or school improvement status; and
 
14     WHEREAS, Jordan Elementary and Schiller Elementary Schools
15 in Centralia and J.L. Buford Intermediate School in Mount
16 Vernon received Spotlight School awards; Spotlight Schools are
17 high-poverty, high-performing schools that are beating the
18 "achievement gap"; schools earning this award made adequate
19 yearly progress, were at least 50% low income in the current
20 and previous two years, at least 60% of students met or
21 exceeded State standards in the current years, and at least 50%
22 of students met or exceeded State standards in the previous two
23 years; and
 
24     WHEREAS, The Illinois Honor Roll acknowledges schools that
25 make outstanding academic accomplishments; a partnership of
26 the Illinois State Board of Education and Northern Illinois
27 University, the 2004 Honor Roll is presenting 288 awards to
28 urban, suburban, and rural schools in every part of the State;
29 therefore, be it
 
30     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
31 NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that

1 we congratulate Webber High School, Jordan Elementary School,
2 Schiller Elementary School, and J.L. Buford Intermediate
3 School on earning Illinois Honor Roll awards from the Illinois
4 State Board of Education and Northern Illinois University; and
5 be it further
 
6     RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be
7 presented to each school as an expression of our respect and
8 esteem and our pride in each school's accomplishments.
