SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
New Act

    Creates the Medigap Premium Reimbursement Act. Establishes the Medigap Premium Reimbursement Program, to be administered by the Department of Public Aid. Provides that under the program, a person who is 65 years of age or older and who purchases and pays the premiums for a policy of Medicare supplemental ("Medigap") insurance that contains a prescription drug benefit is entitled to receive $25 per month from the State for each month that he or she pays those premiums, as a reimbursement of a part of the cost of the insurance coverage.

1     AN ACT in relation to aging.
 
2     Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
 
4     Section 1. Short title. This Act may be cited as the
5 Medigap Premium Reimbursement Act.
 
6     Section 5. Reimbursement program. The Medigap Premium
7 Reimbursement Program is established. Under the program, a
8 person who is 65 years of age or older and who purchases and
9 pays the premiums for a policy of Medicare supplemental
10 ("Medigap") insurance that contains a prescription drug
11 benefit is entitled to receive $25 per month from the State for
12 each month that he or she pays those premiums, as a
13 reimbursement of a part of the cost of the insurance coverage.
14 The Department of Public Aid shall administer the program and
15 shall adopt rules necessary to implement the program.
