SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois
3 were saddened to learn of the death of Rebecca King on July 17,
4 2004; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Rebecca, who was better known as "Edith" to her
6 family and closest friends, was born on May 13, 1932 in
7 Chicago; she graduated from Flower High School and studied
8 theater at Wilson College of Chicago; and
 
9     WHEREAS, She married Walter King Sr. in 1959 and to this
10 union two children were born, Walter King, Jr. and Judith Ann
11 King; she loved spending time with her children and never
12 missed a school event or a graduation; and
 
13     WHEREAS, Mrs. King worked as a Data Entry Specialist for
14 the United States Postal Service and retired in 1990; and
 
15     WHEREAS, She lived her life as a child of God and taught
16 her children to do the same; she was fun-loving, had a heart
17 full of laughter, and always had encouraging things to share
18 with others; prayer was the center of her life and her favorite
19 thing she would say to her children during their prayer
20 sessions was that "A three stranded cord is not easily broken";
21 and
 
22     WHEREAS, Mrs. King was a longtime member of the Voices of
23 Monument of the Monument of Faith Evangelistic Church; she was
24 also active in the Drama Ministry of The People's Church of God
25 in Christ where she was also a member of the Mother's Board;
26 she attended Living Word Ministries in 1997 and became a member
27 of Living Word in 1999; and
 
28     WHEREAS, The passing of Rebecca King will be deeply felt by
29 many, especially her son, Walter King, Jr.; and her daughter,

1 Judith Ann King; therefore, be it
 
2     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL
3 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the death of
4 Rebecca King along with all who knew and loved her and extend
5 our sincere condolences to her family and friends; and be it
6 further
 
7     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
8 presented to the family of Rebecca King as an expression of our
9 deepest sympathy.
