SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois
3 were saddened to learn of the death of Wayne Harms of
4 Carlinville on January 1, 2004; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Mr. Harms was born on August 26, 1917, in Atwater
6 to Otto C. and Sadie M. Cogswell Harms; he married A. Kathleen
7 Rhodes in 1948 in Carlinville; she preceded him in death in
8 2001; and
 
9     WHEREAS, Mr. Harms graduated from Carlinville High School
10 in 1936 and farmed north of Carlinville, retiring in 1997; he
11 was a United States Army veteran of World War II; he trained on
12 a radar unit in the South Pacific for early aircraft warning
13 system and earned the rank of sergeant; he also served with the
14 occupational force in Japan; and
 
15     WHEREAS, Mr. Harms was a member of St. Paul's United Church
16 of Christ in Carlinville, the Macoupin County Farm Bureau, and
17 the Macoupin County Fair Board from 1955-1997, where he was an
18 honorary board member; he was a board member of Guy Baird
19 American Legion Post 554 and MJM Electric for 20 years, where
20 he was a past president; and
 
21     WHEREAS, The passing of Wayne Harms will be deeply felt by
22 many, especially his sons, Keith (wife, Gale) Harms and Jeff
23 (wife, Rhonda) Harms; his daughters, Karen (husband, Bob) Osmoe
24 and Marsha (husband, Steve) Wright; his seven grandchildren;
25 his three step-grandchildren; his two great-grandchildren; his
26 three step-great-grandchildren; his sisters, Bernice Peebles
27 and Ilene (husband, Russell) Hammann; and his several nieces
28 and nephews; therefore, be it
 
29     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL
30 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the death of

1 Wayne Harms along with all who knew and loved him and extend
2 our sincere condolences to his family and friends; and be it
3 further
 
4     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
5 presented to the family of Wayne Harms as an expression of our
6 deepest sympathy.
