HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The education of children is one of the most noble
3 pursuits one can undertake; and
 
4     WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that Scott Guziec
5 will retire on June 30, 2004, after 31 years as an educator;
6 and
 
7     WHEREAS, Mr. Guziec grew up on Chicago's north side and
8 graduated from St. Patrick's High School; he majored in history
9 at Northern Illinois University and earned a master's degree at
10 Northeastern University; and
 
11     WHEREAS, Mr. Guziec started his career as a special
12 education teacher and then as principal in Waukegan before
13 becoming principal at Northwood Junior High in Highland Park;
14 he served as principal at Daniel Wright School in Lincolnshire
15 before moving on to superintendent of the Lincolnshire/Prairie
16 View School District #103; and
 
17     WHEREAS, Mr. Guziec is a member of several professional
18 organizations, including the Lake County Superintendents
19 Association, the Superintendent Articulation Council (SAC),
20 the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development,
21 the Illinois Association of School Administrators, the
22 Illinois Association of School Boards, and the American
23 Association of School Administrators; and
 
24     WHEREAS, In 2002, Mr. Guziec received the Lake County
25 Superintendent of the Year award from his peers, the members of
26 the Lake County Superintendents Association; this award was
27 based on accomplishments, leadership skills, and professional
28 development; and
 
29     WHEREAS, Mr. Guziec and his wife, Karen, live in Green Oaks

1 near Libertyville and have two daughters, Krista and Kari; his
2 hobbies include woodworking and traveling; he is planning a
3 trip to Italy after his retirement; therefore, be it
 
4     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
5 NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
6 congratulate Scott Guziec on the occasion of his retirement
7 after 31 years in education, and we thank him for his many
8 years of dedication to the field; and be it further
 
9     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
10 presented to Scott Guziec as an expression of our respect and
11 esteem and with best wishes for a relaxing retirement.
