 1                          HOUSE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS,  The  members   of   the   Illinois   House   of
 3    Representatives  would  like  to recognize Sally Ann Hogan on
 4    the occasion of her 75th birthday; and

 5        WHEREAS, Ms. Hogan was  born  on  January  8,  1928;  she
 6    graduated  from  St.  Scholastica  Academy  in  1944 and also
 7    completed a two year business program at Mundelein College in
 8    Chicago; and

 9        WHEREAS, Ms. Hogan started her  career  in  banking  with
10    Lake  Shore  National Bank of Chicago, which later became the
11    First National Bank of Chicago  and  then  United  Bank;  she
12    served  as an officer of United Bank before suffering a major
13    stroke in 1947 at the age of 46; and

14        WHEREAS, After her stroke, she remained paralyzed on  one
15    side   with  aphasia  affecting  her  speech;  she  underwent
16    extensive rehabilitation therapy where her  motto  was  work,
17    work,  work; she regained self sufficiency and returned home;
18    she also returned to college, earning an Associates Degree in
19    Liberal Arts and Sciences from McHenry County College; and

20        WHEREAS, Ms. Hogan is currently a  resident  at  Brighton
21    Gardens  Assisted  Living  Facility  in Prospect Heights; she
22    serves  on  the  resident  council  and  worked  to  enact  a
23    recycling program at the facility; and

24        WHEREAS, Ms. Hogan serves as a strong  advocate  for  the
25    disabled having overcome her own adversity; therefore, be it

26        RESOLVED,   BY   THE  HOUSE  OF  REPRESENTATIVES  OF  THE
27    NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS,  that
28    we  hereby  extend our best wishes to Sally Ann Hogan, on the
29    occasion of her 75th birthday and offer our best  wishes  for
30    the future; and be it further
