SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
20 ILCS 105/8.10 new

    Amends the Illinois Act on the Aging. Requires the Department on Aging, in cooperation with the Department of Insurance, to promote the provision of employer-sponsored, long-term care insurance and sets forth the duties of the Department in doing so.

1     AN ACT concerning the Department on Aging.
 
2     Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
 
4     Section 5. The Illinois Act on the Aging is amended by
5 adding Section 8.10 as follows:
 
6     (20 ILCS 105/8.10 new)
7     Sec. 8.10. Promotion of long-term care insurance. Subject
8 to appropriation, the Department, in cooperation with the
9 Department of Insurance, must promote, either directly or
10 through contract, the provision of employer-sponsored,
11 long-term care insurance. The Department must: encourage
12 private and public sector employers to make long-term care
13 insurance available to employees; provide interested employers
14 with information on the long-term care insurance product
15 offered to State employees; and provide technical assistance to
16 employers in designing long-term care insurance products and
17 contacting companies offering long-term care insurance
18 products.
