SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
225 ILCS 235/6   from Ch. 111 1/2, par. 2206

    Amends the Structural Pest Control Act. Provides that in order to have his or her certificate renewed, a certified technician must furnish evidence that he or she has attended a minimum of 9 classroom hours, in increments of 3 hours or more, of training at pest control training seminars approved by the Department of Public Health (now, at least one training seminar and any additional approved seminar on structural pest control required by any rule promulgated under the Act).

1     AN ACT concerning pest control.
 
2     Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
 
4     Section 5. The Structural Pest Control Act is amended by
5 changing Section 6 as follows:
 
6     (225 ILCS 235/6)  (from Ch. 111 1/2, par. 2206)
7     (Section scheduled to be repealed on January 1, 2007)
8     Sec. 6. Certificate renewal). A certified technician's
9 certificate shall be valid for a period of 3 years and must be
10 renewed by January 1 of each third year. A certificate may be
11 renewed by application upon a form prescribed by the
12 Department, provided that the certified technician furnishes
13 evidence that he has attended, during the 3 year period, a
14 minimum of 9 classroom hours, in increments of 3 hours or more,
15 of training at Department approved pest control training
16 seminars at least one training seminar and any additional
17 approved seminar on structural pest control required by any
18 rule promulgated under this Act and pays the fee required by
19 this Act. Renewal applications shall be filed with the
20 Department prior to December 1 preceding the date of
21 expiration.
22     Certified technician's certificates are not transferable
23 from one person to another person, and no licensee or
24 registrant shall use the certificate of a certified technician
25 to secure or hold a license or registration unless the holder
26 of such certificate is actively engaged in the direction of
27 pest control operations of the licensee or registrant.
28     A certified technician who has not renewed his certificate
29 for a period of not more than one year after its expiration may
30 secure a renewal upon payment of the renewal fee, late filing
31 charge and the furnishing of evidence of training as may be
32 required by the Department. If a technician has not renewed his

1 certificate for a period of more than one year after its
2 expiration, he shall file an application for examination, pay
3 all required fees, and successfully pass the examination before
4 his certificate is renewed.
