    Amends the School Code. Provides that in school districts other than elementary school districts, the school board shall require that each high school in the district offer vocational education electives for its students. Amends the State Mandates Act to require implementation without reimbursement.

1     AN ACT concerning education.
 
2     Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
 
4     Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Sections
5 10-20.39 and 34-18.30 as follows:
 
6     (105 ILCS 5/10-20.39 new)
7     Sec. 10-20.39. High school vocational education electives.
8 In school districts other than elementary school districts, the
9 school board shall require that each high school in the
10 district offer vocational education electives for its
11 students.
 
12     (105 ILCS 5/34-18.30 new)
13     Sec. 34-18.30. High school vocational education electives.
14 The board shall require that each high school in the district
15 offer vocational education electives for its students.
 
16     Section 90. The State Mandates Act is amended by adding
17 Section 8.28 as follows:
 
18     (30 ILCS 805/8.28 new)
19     Sec. 8.28. Exempt mandate. Notwithstanding Sections 6 and 8
20 of this Act, no reimbursement by the State is required for the
21 implementation of any mandate created by this amendatory Act of
22 the 93rd General Assembly.
