SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Kenneth E. "Kenny" Batson, formerly of
4Little Swan Lake, who passed away on January 21, 2024; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Kenny Batson was born in rural Laura to Charles
6and Dora E. (McCullough) Batson on July 28, 1939; he graduated
7from Abingdon High School in 1957; he served in the United
8States Navy for five years with the Pacific fleet during the
9Vietnam War; he married Louise P. Sabetti at Sacred Heart
10Catholic Church in Abingdon on June 27, 1964; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Kenny Batson was the owner/operator of Batson's
12Ace Hardware in Bushnell for 50 years; he retired in 2009; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Kenny Batson was a member of the Abingdon
14American Legion and the Bushnell VFW; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Kenny Batson was of the Catholic faith; he
16enjoyed spending time with his family; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Kenny Batson was preceded in death by his parents
18and his brothers, Harry, Art, Ronnie, and Robert; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Kenny Batson is survived by his wife of nearly 60

1years, Louise; his son, David (Stacy) Batson; his
2grandchildren, Hope, Alex, and Abby; his great-grandson,
3Henry; his brother, Chuck (Linda) Batson; his sisters, Betty
4Gordon, Shirley Blodgett, Emma Lou Lambert, and Mary Jo Russo;
5and many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
7ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
8Kenneth E. "Kenny" Batson and extend our sincere condolences
9to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
10it further
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12presented to the family of Kenny Batson as an expression of our
13deepest sympathy.
