SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Wendell Keith Harroun of Aledo, who
4passed away on December 19, 2023; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Wendell Harroun was born to J. Keith and Vesta
6Irene (Gorman) Harroun in Duncan Township, Mercer County on
7September 20, 1927; he served in the U.S. Navy during World War
8II and later in Korea; he married Gloria Jean Flynn in
9Keithsburg on December 13, 1952, and she preceded him in death
10on February 8, 2015; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Wendell Harroun farmed and worked for John Deere
12Plow and Planter Works; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Wendell Harroun was a lifetime member of the
14Mercer County VFW; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Wendell Harroun enjoyed golfing, fishing, and
16reading and, in his later years, listening to audiobooks; he
17also enjoyed reminiscing and the social hours with the other
18residents at Brookstone; he adored his grandchildren and his
19great-grandchildren; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Wendell Harroun was preceded in death by his

1parents; his daughter, Deborah Craig; and his sisters, Doris
2Tindal and Shirley Bateman; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Wendell Harroun is survived by his daughter,
4Cathy (Ted) Long; his grandchildren, Eric and Daphney Long,
5and their children, Adler, Vera and Fenton, and Kristin and
6Nathan Willits and their daughter, Violet; and his brother,
7Fay (Rochelle) Harroun; therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
9ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
10Wendell Keith Harroun and extend our sincere condolences to
11his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
12further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Wendell Harroun as an expression of
15our deepest sympathy.
