SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Don L. Mason of Lewistown, who passed
4away on December 12, 2023; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Don Mason was born to Don C. and Maralee (George)
6Mason in Canton on September 11, 1937; he served in the U.S.
7Air Force from 1955 to 1959; he married JoAnn Hendee at Cuba
8Christian Church on November 29, 1959; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Don Mason was a coal miner and a rural mail
10carrier for many years, and he retired from both professions;
11and
 
12    WHEREAS, Don Mason was a member of the United Mine Workers
13of America and the Rural Letter Carrier Association; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Don Mason was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs and
15the Chicago Bears; he also enjoyed fishing and watching
16Illinois football and basketball; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Don Mason was a wonderful father who loved
18spending time with his family; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Don Mason was preceded in death by his parents;

2    WHEREAS, Don Mason is survived by his wife; his children,
3Darren (Laura) Mason, Dana (Roger) Well, Brent Mason, and
4Becky (Michael) Hardy; nine grandchildren; and three
5great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
7ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
8Don L. Mason and extend our sincere condolences to his family,
9friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11presented to the family of Don Mason as an expression of our
12deepest sympathy.
