SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Edward J. Mathis of Henry, who passed
4away on September 10, 2023; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Edward Mathis was born in Henry to George and Amy
6(Johnson) Mathis on April 6, 1931; He served in the U.S. Air
7Force; he married Frances Myers in Varna on August 10, 1951;
8and
 
9    WHEREAS, Edward Mathis was an auto mechanic at Klein's
10Auto in Henry; he owned and operated his own auto service
11garage in Henry for many years and then retired from S&K
12Chevrolet in Peoria; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Edward Mathis served on the Henry City Council
14for two terms; he was a member of Henry United Methodist Church
15and a lifetime Member of the Henry American Legion; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Edward Mathis was preceded in death by his wife;
17his daughter, Barbara Benvenuti; one brother; one sister; and
18two grandchildren; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Edward Mathis is survived by his sons, Michael
20(Robin) and Allan (Carol) Mathis; seven grandchildren; 13

1great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild;
2therefore, be it
 
3    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
4ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
5Edward J. Mathis and extend our sincere condolences to his
6family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
7further
 
8    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
9presented to the family of Edward Mathis as an expression of
10our deepest sympathy.
