SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Michael Gaeta; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Michael Gaeta was born and raised in Cleveland,
5Ohio; he joined the U.S. Army after high school and was
6stationed in West Germany for two and a half years; he later
7obtained an associate degree from Fenn Community College in
8Cleveland; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Michael Gaeta married Johanna in 1960, and their
10family expanded to include four children, six grandchildren,
11and five great-grandchildren; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Michael Gaeta retired from a career in food
13service; he and his wife owned and operated three
14distributorships for Seattle Sutton's Healthy Eating; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Michael Gaeta was elected to the village board
16for Hoffman Estates in 2013 and won reelection in 2017 and
172021; as trustee, he served as chairman of the Public Health
18and Safety Committee, was co-chair of the Village Green Ad-Hoc
19Committee, served as the Hoffman Estates' representative on
20the O'Hare Noise Compatibility Commission, and was a member of
21the village's Commission for Senior Citizens; prior to his

1time as a trustee, he served on the village's planning and
2zoning commission for three years and the zoning board of
3appeals for five years; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Michael Gaeta was an expert pilot and a longtime
5member of the Civil Air Patrol; he achieved the rank of
6lieutenant colonel and was in charge of search-and-rescue
7missions; he owned an airplane and was an instrument-rated
8pilot; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Michael Gaeta loved meeting people and serving
10the people of Hoffman Estates; he was always upbeat and
11positive; he will be remembered as a great leader and a
12wonderful friend; therefore, be it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
14ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
15Michael Gaeta and extend our sincere condolences to his
16family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
17further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to the family of Michael Gaeta as an expression of
20our deepest sympathy.
