SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Les Peterson of Palos Park, who passed
4away on January 6, 2023; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Les Peterson was born in Chicago on March 5,
61954; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Les Peterson worked in law enforcement for 50
8years; in addition to his work as a public servant, he spent 25
9years as an educator, teaching law enforcement to local
10college students; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Les Peterson had an amazing sense of humor with
12an infectious laugh and a smile that would light up even the
13biggest of rooms; when he was not building something, fixing
14something, or taking part in one of his many interesting
15hobbies such as beekeeping, he could usually be found towing
16his kids around the lake on inner tubes or driving his beloved
17granddaughter, "Baby Reesie", around the yard on the golf
18cart; he was an avid fan of Bruce Springsteen; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Les Peterson was a "best friend" and "brother" to
20many and lived his life with a servant's heart, always ready to
21help someone when they needed something; and

1    WHEREAS, Les Peterson was preceded in death by his father,
2Ben B. Peterson, and his siblings, Phyllis (James) Benbow and
3Ernie Peterson; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Les Peterson is survived by his wife of 34 years,
5Kate (Murphy); his children, Shane (Hannah Gilbert), Kelly
6(Kevin) Pendl, and Megan (Jimmy Wrobel); his granddaughter,
7Reese Kathleen Pendl; his mother, Francis (White) Peterson;
8and his siblings, Linda Heer, Ben B. Peterson II, Shari
9(Harley) Chapin, Eric Peterson, Glenn (Kim) Peterson, Kristina
10(Michael) Mondragon, and Martha (Jack) Nagle; therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
12ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
13Les Peterson and extend our sincere condolences to his family,
14friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of Les Peterson as an expression of our
17deepest sympathy.
