SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Gary Lynn Heggy of Golconda, who
4passed away on February 7, 2023; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Gary Heggy was born to Leo and Geraldine Duncan
6Heggy in Springfield on July 8, 1947; he graduated from
7Springfield College in Springfield; he married Gloria
8(Griffin) Elliott on September 10, 1993; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Gary Heggy served as a senior public service
10administrator for the State of Illinois, and he retired after
1141 years of service; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Gary Heggy represented the Illinois Department of
13Human Services at the National Association of Reimbursement
14Officers (NARO) conferences for several years, and he held
15several offices with that organization, including president;
16and
 
17    WHEREAS, Gary Heggy enjoyed spending time with his family,
18playing golf and cards, traveling, and cheering on the San
19Francisco 49ers football team and the Fighting Illini
20basketball team; he also took great pleasure in horseback
21riding to scenic spots, landscaping, and hanging out with his

1beloved dogs, Bodie, the late Boomer, and the late Cowboy; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Gary Heggy is survived by his wife, Gloria; his
3daughter, Carrie (Heggy) Stevenson; his stepsons, Rich Roper
4and Aaron Elliott; his brother, Bill Heggy; his 10
5grandchildren; and his two great-grandchildren; therefore, be
6it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
9Gary Lynn Heggy and extend our sincere condolences to his
10family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
11further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of Gary Heggy as an expression of our
14deepest sympathy.
