SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to
3congratulate Audrey Soglin on her recent retirement as the
4Executive Director of the Illinois Education Association and
5commend her lifetime commitment to improving the lives of
6every student throughout the State of Illinois; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Through her collaborative work, Audrey Soglin has
8established herself as one of the premier advocates for
9educators by ensuring that their voices are heard and that the
10positive work being done in our schools and classrooms is
11recognized by parents, legislators, and community leaders; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Audrey Soglin has taken a leadership role
13throughout her career, whether as a classroom teacher, local
14union leader, or executive director; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Audrey Soglin helped position the Illinois
16Education Association as one of the leaders on the importance
17of trauma-informed practices, as well as social and emotional
18learning, and of including these as a part of every day best
19teaching practices; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Audrey Soglin has committed the Illinois
21Education Association to becoming a leader in racial and

1social justice throughout the state; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Audrey Soglin has helped the Illinois Education
3Association evolve into one of the national models of how a
4labor union should be led through collaboration with the
5voices of the general membership at large; therefore, be it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
7ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Audrey
8Soglin on her retirement, commend her many years of service to
9the educators of Illinois, and wish her good luck in all her
10future endeavors; and be it further
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12presented to Audrey Soglin as a symbol of our esteem and
13respect.
