AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 1710

2    AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend Senate Bill 1710 by replacing
3everything after the enacting clause with the following:
 
4    "Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by adding
5Section 11-315 as follows:
 
6    (625 ILCS 5/11-315 new)
7    Sec. 11-315. Paved bicycle trail signage. For the purposes
8of this Section, "paved bicycle trail" includes trails
9accommodating bicycle traffic composed of aggregate, asphalt,
10bituminous treatment, concrete, crushed limestone, or any
11combination thereof. The authority having maintenance
12jurisdiction over publicly owned paved bicycle trails in the
13State shall erect permanent regulatory or warning signage
14alerting pedestrians or cyclists of highway crossings. If the
15authority having maintenance jurisdiction over publicly owned
16bicycle trails has actual knowledge of an emergency or safety

1hazard that creates a dangerous condition on a publicly owned
2paved bicycle trail, the authority shall take reasonable steps
3to erect temporary signage alerting pedestrians or cyclist of
4the dangerous condition. The Department with reference to
5State highways under its jurisdiction, and the local authority
6with reference to other highways under its jurisdiction, shall
7erect permanent signage warning vehicular traffic in advance
8of bicycle trail crossings. Permanent signage erected as part
9of this Section shall conform with the State manual and
10permanent advanced warning signage shall be located at least
11150 feet in advance of the crossing. This Section shall not
12apply to primitive trails that are not intended for bicycle or
13pedestrian traffic.".
