HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to commend the Jack and Jill Chicago
4Chapter for its work to encourage the leadership development
5of African American children into future leaders; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Jack and Jill of America, Inc. is a membership
7organization of mothers with children, ages 2 to 19, dedicated
8to nurturing future African American leaders by strengthening
9children through leadership development, volunteer service,
10philanthropic giving, and civic duty; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Jack and Jill of America, Inc.'s objectives
12include creating a medium of contact for children that will
13stimulate growth and development and providing children
14constructive educational, cultural, civic, health,
15recreational, and social programs; since 1938, the
16organization has dedicated its resources to improving the
17quality of life of children, particularly for all African
18American children; and
 
19    WHEREAS, The Jack and Jill Chicago Chapter has operated
20since 1947, focusing on initiatives to equip members and youth
21with the power to make a difference in the lives of children
22and communities in Chicago and around the country; and

1    WHEREAS, The Jack and Jill Chicago Chapter has maintained
2a fervent commitment to service and community support with
3mothers and teens, building relationships with organizations
4like the Chicago Urban League, Humble Beginnings, IGNITE, and
5Chicago Youth Programs, and the organization's teen group
6previously won first place at the 2021 Midwest Regional Teen
7Leadership Conference for charitable giving; and
 
8    WHEREAS, The Jack and Jill Chicago Chapter provides a
9focus on social activism, leadership development, legislative
10advocacy, cultural awareness, and educational activities,
11including helping introduce Jack and Jill children of all ages
12to the act of protesting and standing up with confidence for
13their rights as African American children and teenagers while
14learning how to create a vision and how to achieve that goal in
15the process by mobilizing the community at large to rally
16behind a common cause; and
 
17    WHEREAS, The Jack and Jill Chicago Chapter also includes a
18Father's Auxiliary to encourage the involvement of fathers at
19every level of the organization to assist mothers in
20delivering programming that stimulates the growth and
21development of children; therefore, be it

1HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
2we commend the Jack and Jill Chicago Chapter for its
3dedication and work to encourage the growth and development of
4African American children into future leaders; and be it
5further
 
6    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
7presented to the Jack and Jill Chicago Chapter as an
8expression of our esteem and respect.
