HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Anthony
4Richard "Tony" Scruggs, who passed away on April 6, 2024; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Tony Scruggs was born to Richard and Elizabeth
6Scruggs in Bethesda, Maryland on April 2, 1959; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Tony Scruggs worked as a truck driver for Federal
8Pipe and Steel for most of his adult life; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Tony Scruggs was passionate about cooking; he was
10a barbecue master who made a name for himself locally, winning
11contests and running a few different restaurants over the
12years; he was a contestant on season two of the TV show
13MasterChef before landing a position as executive chef at a
14famous BBQ eatery near Wrigley Field in Chicago; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Tony Scruggs loved his animals, his garden, his
16yard, and the sunset; he enjoyed taking nightly country drives
17with his wife while listening to their favorite songs,
18fishing, and collecting antiques, especially fishing lures;
19and
 
20    WHEREAS, Tony Scruggs was a family man who loved taking

1his grandchildren on adventures; he will be remembered for his
2bright smile and his laughter filling any room he was in; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Tony Scruggs was preceded in death by his parents
4and his sister, Kristine; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Tony Scruggs is survived by his wife of 46 years,
6Cheryl Scruggs; his children, Sarah (Tom) Sullivan, Tony
7(Janelle Ditta) Scruggs, and Selina (Brad) Manning; his
8grandchildren, Max Riegel, Ella Sullivan, Monty Manning, Noah
9Manning, and Isaiah Ditta; his brother, Paul Scruggs; his
10sister-in-law, Lisa (Joe) Trznadel; and his nephews, Mychel
11Trznadel and Connor Trznadel; therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
13HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
14we mourn the passing of Anthony Richard "Tony" Scruggs and
15extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all
16who knew and loved him; and be it further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18presented to the family of Tony Scruggs as an expression of our
19deepest sympathy.
