HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, A delegation of members from the Central Area
3Illinois Chapters of The Links, Incorporated will attend the
4organization's Illinois Links Legislative Day at the State
5Capitol on April 17, 2024; and
 
6    WHEREAS, The Links, Incorporated is an international,
7not-for-profit corporation that was established in 1946 for
8the purposes of education, civic, and cultural enhancement;
9and
 
10    WHEREAS, The Links, Incorporated has a membership of more
11than 17,000 professional women in 299 chapters located in 41
12states, in the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of the
13Bahamas, and the United Kingdom, who are influential decision
14makers and opinion leaders; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Members of The Links, Incorporated provide over
16one million service hours annually in five primary
17programmatic areas, known as Services to Youth, The Arts,
18National Trends and Services, International Trends and
19Services, and Health and Human Services; and
 
20    WHEREAS, The mission statement of The Links, Incorporated
21is "Friends Transforming Communities Through Service"; and

1    WHEREAS, The mission of The Links, Incorporated is
2realized daily in programs and service; and
 
3    WHEREAS, The legislative day at the Capitol is a component
4of transformational programming on legislative issues and
5public affairs for The Links, Incorporated; and
 
6    WHEREAS, The Central Area of The Links, Incorporated is
7comprised of 72 chapters in 17 states; and
 
8    WHEREAS, The Illinois Chapters represented include Central
9Illinois (IL) Chapter, Chicago (IL) Chapter, Gateway (IL)
10Chapter, Harbor Lites (IL) Chapter, Hoffman Estates (IL)
11Chapter, Lake Shore (IL) Chapter, North Shore (IL) Chapter,
12Quad Cities (IL) Chapter, South Suburban Chicago (IL) Chapter,
13Tri-County (IL) Chapter, Windy City (IL) Chapter, and West
14Towns (IL) Chapter; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Lieutenant Governor Juliana Stratton and
16Representatives Rita Mayfield and Kimberly du Buclet are
17active members; and
 
18    WHEREAS, The theme of Illinois Links Day at the State
19Capitol is "Illuminate Illinois: Linking Up The Vote to Issues
20Impacting Our Communities"; therefore, be it

1    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
2HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
3we declare April 17, 2024 as Links Day in Illinois and
4congratulate Central Area Director Sheila R. Brown and the
5members on their unwavering commitment to service; and be it
6further
 
7    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
8presented to Central Area Director Sheila R. Brown as a symbol
9of our respect and esteem.
