HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, On October 7, 2023, Hamas, a foreign terrorist
3organization, launched a brutal terrorist attack upon the
4civilians of the Republic of Israel; and
 
5    WHEREAS, This cross-border assault included thousands of
6rockets fired by Hamas into Israel and numerous terrorist
7incursions into the streets and homes of Israeli civilians;
8and
 
9    WHEREAS, As a result of this heinous attack, countless
10Israelis have been killed thus far, thousands more have been
11wounded, and more than one hundred Israelis and foreign
12nationals, including U.S. citizens, have been abducted and
13brutalized by Hamas terrorists, including reported rapes,
14torture, and murders of abducted civilians; and
 
15    WHEREAS, As of October 11, 2023, U.S. officials have
16reported that at least 27 American citizens have been killed
17in the brutal assault; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Numerous international news organizations have
19detailed the brutal slaughter of Israeli women, including the
20sickening murder of children and infants; and

1    WHEREAS, Continued prayers are offered to those abducted
2civilians, including those American citizens and their
3families; and
 
4    WHEREAS, The attack follows countless other terrorist acts
5by Hamas against the Republic of Israel and its Jewish
6civilians; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Patriotic Americans are responding to this attack
8by expressing their unwavering support for Israel and Jewish
9Americans; and
 
10    WHEREAS, In recent days, and even after the horrific
11attack of October 7, 2023, certain politicians and
12organizations have begun to say that "we need to listen to both
13sides" and "we ought not to rush to judgment" and "we need more
14data" and "it's complicated"; and
 
15    WHEREAS, When armed mobs of terrorists murder and abduct
16innocent civilian men, women, and children, the only people
17who see complications are those who lack moral standards and
18fail to recognize basic human dignity; therefore, be it
 
19    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
20HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
21in response to the heinous Hamas terrorist attack of October

17, 2023, we express unlimited, unwavering support for the
2civilians, soldiers, defenders, and government of the Republic
3of Israel; and be it further
 
4    RESOLVED, That we reject any attempt to compromise,
5undermine, or "both sides" this fundamental moral issue of
6human good and evil; and be it further
 
7    RESOLVED, That we extend our sincere condolences to the
8families who have lost loved ones in this brutal assault,
9including the families of the 27 American citizens who lost
10their lives; and be it further
 
11    RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be delivered to
12Yinam Cohen, the Consul General of Israel to the Midwest, at
13the Office of the Consulate General of Israel in Chicago.
