HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Dianne
4Levand Duner, who passed away on June 4, 2023; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Dianne Duner was born to John and Irene Levand in
6Berwyn on December 21, 1941; she graduated from Nazareth
7Academy in La Grange Park, Clarke University in Dubuque, Iowa,
8and National Louis University in Chicago; she married John
9Duner of Downers Grove, and they brought their son, Kenyon
10Duner, into the world in 1974; and
 
11    WHEREAS, After completing her education, Dianne Duner
12began her 40-year career in education, first as a teacher and
13then in administrative roles, including as director of
14curriculum and staff development for the LaGrange Highlands
15School District; she will especially be remembered for her
16love of France and for teaching French, English, and
17mythology; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Dianne Duner was involved in a number of
19community-based service organizations, many of which were
20located in Brookfield; she served for 23 years on the board of
21trustees of the Linda Sokol Francis Brookfield Library and
22presided as president when the library's new facility opened

1in July of 2021; she was a tireless advocate for women's rights
2and campaigned for the Equal Rights Amendment; she championed
3animal adoption and humane treatment and was a supporter of
4the arts; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Dianne Duner was preceded in death by her former
6husband, John Duner; her parents; and her brother, John
7Levand; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Dianne Duner is survived by her son, Kenyon
9Duner; her daughter-in-law, Katherine Wolicki; her
10granddaughter, Beatrix Duner; and other extended family
11members; therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
13HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
14we mourn the passing of Dianne L. Duner and extend our sincere
15condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved
16her; and be it further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18presented to the family of Dianne Duner as an expression of our
19deepest sympathy.
