HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate Anna Peplowski on the
4occasion of being selected for the U.S. Women's National Swim
5Team to compete in the 2023 World Aquatics Championships; and
 
6    WHEREAS, The 2023 World Aquatics Championships will be
7held at Marine Messe Fukuoka in Fukuoka, Japan from July 14 to
8July 30, 2023; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Anna Peplowski is a native of Germantown Hills;
10she is the daughter of Doug and Leslie Peplowski, and she is
11the sibling of three sisters, Noelle, Ella, and Eva, and one
12brother, Jake; she is a graduate of Metamora Township High
13School, where she was a member of the girls swimming and diving
14team; and
 
15    WHEREAS, During her high school swim career, Anna
16Peplowski was named to the All-State first team in four events
17during her senior season, was the 100-yard freestyle state
18champion in Illinois, set three state records in Illinois, and
19was the school record holder in the 50-yard, 100-yard, and
20200-yard freestyle events, the 100-yard backstroke, and a pair
21of relay events; she was also a qualifier for the 2020 Olympic
22Trials, and she was named the 2020-21 Journal Star Area

1Swimmer of the Year and 2020-21 Tri-County Female Athlete of
2the Year; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Anna Peplowski is currently a member of the
4women's swimming and diving team at Indiana University; during
5the 2021-22 season, she was named a two-time All-American, the
62022 Big Ten Freshman of the Year, and to the second-team of
7the All-Big Ten; during the 2022-23 season, she medaled in all
8seven events in which she competed, set the program record in
9the 200-yard free title, was named the 2023 Big Ten Swimmer of
10the Championships and to the first-team of the All-Big Ten,
11and placed in three Big Ten events, the 200-yard individual
12freestyle, the 200-yard individual backstroke, and the
13800-yard free relay; and
 
14    WHEREAS, At the 2023 World Aquatics Championships, Anna
15Peplowski will serve as second alternate for the 200-yard
16relay event and has been assigned to swim in the
17preliminaries; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Anna Peplowski will be entering her junior year
19at Indiana University this fall; therefore, be it
 
20    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
21HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
22we congratulate Anna Peplowski on being selected for the U.S.
