SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
225 ILCS 10/3.7 new

    Amends the Child Care Act of 1969. Provides that a day care home or group day care home is not required to be licensed under the Act if the day care home or group day care home: (1) serves only dependent children of military personnel; (2) is located on a military base or federal property; and (3) is certified as a child development program by a branch of the U.S. Department of Defense or the U.S. Coast Guard. Provides that the U.S. Department of Defense or the U.S. Coast Guard, or their agents, including an installation commander of a military base on which a day care home or group day care home is located, may assume responsibility for approving or determining which children may be served by the day care homes or group day care homes that are exempt from licensure.

1    AN ACT concerning regulation.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Child Care Act of 1969 is amended by adding
5Section 3.7 as follows:
 
6    (225 ILCS 10/3.7 new)
7    Sec. 3.7. Exemption from licensure; day care homes and
8group day care homes serving children of military personnel.
9Notwithstanding any other provision to the contrary, a day
10care home or group day care home is not required to be licensed
11under this Act if the day care home or group day care home: (1)
12serves only dependent children of military personnel; (2) is
13located on a military base or federal property; and (3) is
14certified as a child development program by a branch of the
15U.S. Department of Defense or the U.S. Coast Guard. The U.S.
16Department of Defense or the U.S. Coast Guard, or their
17agents, including an installation commander of a military base
18on which a day care home or group day care home is located, may
19assume responsibility for approving or determining which
20children may be served by the day care homes or group day care
21homes that are exempt from licensure under this Section.
