SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
625 ILCS 5/1-105  from Ch. 95 1/2, par. 1-105
625 ILCS 5/1-162.3

    Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code. Provides that the definition of "authorized emergency vehicle" includes emergency vehicles of municipal departments or public service corporations as are designated or authorized by proper State or county authorities. Provides that the definition of "police vehicle" includes any vehicle, recreational off-highway vehicle, all-terrain vehicle, watercraft, aircraft, bicycle, or electric personal assistive mobility device that is designated or authorized by proper State or county authorities for police use.

1    AN ACT concerning transportation.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by
5changing Sections 1-105 and 1-162.3 as follows:
 
6    (625 ILCS 5/1-105)  (from Ch. 95 1/2, par. 1-105)
7    Sec. 1-105. Authorized emergency vehicle. Emergency
8vehicles of municipal departments or public service
9corporations as are designated or authorized by proper State,
10county, or local authorities; police vehicles; vehicles of the
11fire department; vehicles of a HazMat or technical rescue team
12authorized by a county board under Section 5-1127 of the
13Counties Code; ambulances; vehicles of the Illinois Department
14of Corrections; vehicles of the Illinois Department of
15Juvenile Justice; vehicles of the Illinois Emergency
16Management Agency; vehicles of the Office of the Illinois
17State Fire Marshal; mine rescue and explosives emergency
18response vehicles of the Department of Natural Resources;
19vehicles of the Illinois Department of Public Health; vehicles
20of the Illinois State Toll Highway Authority with a gross
21vehicle weight rating of 9,000 pounds or more and those
22identified as Highway Emergency Lane Patrol; vehicles of the
23Illinois Department of Transportation identified as Emergency

1Traffic Patrol; and vehicles of a municipal or county
2emergency services and disaster agency, as defined by the
3Illinois Emergency Management Agency Act.
