1 | | (1) the
diagnosis, medical,
physical, or surgical |
2 | | treatment of the ailments of the human foot, including |
3 | | amputations as defined in this Section ; . |
4 | | (2) "Podiatric medicine" or "podiatry" includes the |
5 | | provision of topical and local anesthesia and moderate and |
6 | | deep sedation, as defined by Department rule adopted under |
7 | | the Medical Practice Act of 1987 ; and |
8 | | (3) vaccination of patients 18 years of age and older |
9 | | in accordance with Section 20.6 upon completion of |
10 | | appropriate training . |
11 | | For the purposes of this Act, the terms podiatric |
12 | | medicine,
podiatry and chiropody have the same definition.

13 | | (E) "Human foot" means the ankle and soft tissue which |
14 | | insert
into the
foot as well as the foot.
|
15 | | (F) "Podiatric physician" means a physician licensed to |
16 | | practice
podiatric medicine.

17 | | (G) "Postgraduate training" means a minimum one-year |
18 | | postdoctoral
structured and supervised educational experience |
19 | | approved by the Council on
Podiatric Medical Education of the |
20 | | American Podiatric Medical Association
which includes |
21 | | residencies and preceptorships.

22 | | (H) "Amputations" means amputations of the human foot, in |
23 | | whole or in part, that are limited to 10 centimeters proximal |
24 | | to the tibial talar articulation. |
25 | | (I) "Email address of record" means the designated email |
26 | | address recorded by the Department in the applicant's |

1 | | application file or the licensee's license file, as maintained |
2 | | by the Department's licensure maintenance unit. |
3 | | (J) "Address of record" means the designated address |
4 | | recorded by the Department in the applicant's or licensee's |
5 | | application file or license file as maintained by the |
6 | | Department's licensure maintenance unit. |

9 | | Sec. 20.6. Vaccinations. A podiatric physician may provide |
10 | | vaccinations to patients 18 years of age and older upon |
11 | | completion of appropriate training. The training shall include |
12 | | how to address contraindications and adverse reactions as |
13 | | established by rule. Vaccinations administered by a podiatric |
14 | | physician shall be limited to influenza (inactivated influenza |
15 | | vaccine and live attenuated influenza intranasal vaccine), |
16 | | tetanus, and SARS-CoV-2. Vaccination of a patient by a |
17 | | podiatric physician shall be documented in the patient's |
18 | | record and the record shall be retained in accordance with |
19 | | current recordkeeping standards. The podiatric physician shall |
20 | | notify the patient's primary care physician of each dose of |
21 | | vaccine administered to the patient and shall enter all |
22 | | patient level data or update the patient's current record. The |
23 | | podiatric physician may provide this notice to the patient's |
24 | | physician electronically. ".
