SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Ameline M. "Emily" Rashid LaHood of
4Peoria, who passed away on December 15, 2022; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Emily LaHood was born in Keokuk, Iowa to Fadwa
6Milhelm and Shafee Ameen Rashid on February 1, 1936; she moved
7from Keokuk to Peoria with her family in 1941; she attended St.
8Joseph's Grade School, Academy of Our Lady High School, and
9Bradley University; she married Edward A. LaHood on October 5,
101963; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Emily LaHood was a legal secretary for 10 years;
12and
 
13    WHEREAS, Emily LaHood was a member and past president of
14the Catholic Women's League, the St. Vincent DePaul Ladies
15Sodality, and the Rashid Club of America; she was also a member
16of St. Vincent DePaul Church for many years and a member of St.
17Sharbel Maronite Church; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Emily LaHood was deeply devoted to her family,
19including her many relatives and friends in Peoria and the
20Rashid family throughout the country; she was generous beyond
21measure and utterly selfless, providing support, gifts, and

1encouragement to everyone she knew; her hospitality was
2unparalleled, and she was considered one of the finest chefs
3in the Lebanese community; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Emily LaHood was preceded in death by her parents
5and her brother, Dr. Ameel G. Rashid and his wife, Joyce Lahne
6Rashid; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Emily LaHood is survived by her husband, Edward;
8her children, Edward R. LaHood (Carith Eggerichs) and Maria
9LaHood (Barent Roth); her granddaughters, Nicolette LaHood and
10Cyla LaHood Roth; and her brother's family, Gregory, Parker,
11and Anna Rashid, Jeffrey Rashid (Susan Wittry), Susan Rashid,
12Mackenzie Palmer, and Waylon Lafferty; therefore, be it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
14ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
15Ameline M. "Emily" Rashid LaHood and extend our sincere
16condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved
17her; and be it further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to the family of Emily LaHood as an expression of our
20deepest sympathy.
