SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Mayor Kevin M. Casey of Hometown, who
4passed away on December 9, 2022; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Mayor Casey was born to Jim and Marilyn Casey on
6November 7, 1954; he was the fourth of six children, namely
7Maureen Pannaralla, Joan (Mike) Cellini, Jim Casey, Marilou
8Casey, and Karen (Steve) Cichon; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Mayor Casey was a devoted public servant,
10beginning his service as an alderman before becoming the Mayor
11of the City of Hometown in 2009, one of his proudest
12achievements; his pride for Hometown was unmatched; he strove
13to always keep Hometown a place where people would want to
14raise their families, taking special care on planning events,
15which included his favorites, Breakfast with the Easter Bunny
16and Breakfast/Pictures with Santa; he also served as a member
17of the Oak Lawn Community High School District 229 School
18Board; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Mayor Casey had three major loves of his life,
20his wife, his family, and the City of Hometown; he and his wife
21enjoyed going out for breakfast before starting a busy day of
22spending time with their children0 and grandchildren; his

1favorite pastime was watching his grandchildren play sports;
2he also enjoyed playing basketball with his grandchildren,
3playfully teasing them, and attempting to get them on the
4trampoline; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Mayor Casey will be remembered for his presence,
6his sharp sense of humor, and his endless devotion to his wife
7and public service; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Mayor Casey was preceded in death by his parents;
9and
 
10    WHEREAS, Mayor Casey is survived by his wife of 47 years,
11Cathy; his children, Kevin, Michelle (Kyle), Melissa (Dave),
12and Tim; his grandchildren, Katie, Danny, Quin, Cal, Delaney,
13Mason, Shea, Archie, Wolf, Vivienne, and Mick; his
14sisters-in-law, Pam and Linda; his brother-in-law, Roger
15(Nadine); his Foley brothers and sisters; and his many nieces
16and nephews; therefore, be it
 
17    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
18ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
19Mayor Kevin M. Casey of Hometown and extend our sincere
20condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
21him; and be it further
