SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Eugene Klell "Gene" Rogers of Moline,
4who passed away on December 7, 2022; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Gene Rogers was born to William and Ruth
6(Fletcher) Rogers in Dallas, Iowa on September 21, 1929; he
7married Giovina Maria Matese in Joliet on January 10, 1959,
8and she preceded him in death on May 26, 2001; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Gene Rogers served in and retired from the U.S.
10Marine Corps; he went on to work for Commonwealth Edison in
11Cordova for over 22 years, retiring in 1989; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Gene Rogers enjoyed hiking, biking, and
13backpacking; he also enjoyed traveling and vacationing with
14his grandsons; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Gene Rogers was preceded in death by his wife;
16his parents; and his siblings, John Rogers, Gordon Rogers,
17Leonard Rogers, Warren Rogers, and Dorothy Wilkinson; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Gene Rogers is survived by his daughters, Clarisa
19(Eugene Jr.) Mattecheck and Diana (F. Dwayne) Helling; his
20grandsons, Ian (Morgan Park) Dunsworth, Chase Mattecheck,

1Zachary (Alexandra Oberg) Helling, Nicholas Helling, and Lucas
2(Jade Katen-Ynzunza) Helling; and his great-granddaughter,
3Willow Helling; therefore, be it
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
5ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
6Eugene Klell "Gene" Rogers and extend our sincere condolences
7to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
8it further
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
10presented to the family of Gene Rogers as an expression of our
11deepest sympathy.
