SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Carolyn Poplett of River Forest, who
4passed away on May 18, 2022 at the age of 92; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Carolyn Poplett was an advocate in her community
6for mental health and social well being; she was a dedicated
7volunteer and was adept at encouraging others to serve as
8well; she dedicated her time to the Thrive Counseling Center
9and the Nineteenth Century Charitable Association; she was
10president of the Economy Shop and an active volunteer and
11philanthropist with the Infant Welfare Society, the Senior
12Citizens Center of OPRF, the Historical Society of Oak
13Park-River Forest, and the American Opera Society of Chicago;
14and
 
15    WHEREAS, Carolyn Poplett was honored with both the
16prestigious Rita Johnson Humanitarian Award and the Spirit of
17Thrive Award in 2014; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Carolyn Poplett wrote a biography of Grace Wilbur
19Trout, titled The Woman Who Never Fails, which earned an Award
20of Merit from the Illinois State Historical Society; and
 
21    WHEREAS, At the time of her passing, Carolyn Poplett was

1survived by her sons, John and James, and her daughter,
2Allison Ruth Poplett; therefore, be it
 
3    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
4ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
5Carolyn Poplett and extend our sincere condolences to her
6family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
7further
 
8    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
9presented to the family of Carolyn Poplett as an expression of
10our deepest sympathy.
