SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Evelyn Francis "Evie" (Fettes)
4Tiemann of Oak Park, who passed away on January 12, 2022 at the
5age of 79; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Evie Tiemann was born in Boston, Massachusetts on
7August 19, 1942; as the oldest of nine children, she was
8affectionately referred to as "Mother" by her siblings; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Evie Tiemann was a career educator; she taught
10full time for 50 years until her retirement; outside of the
11classroom, she was an avid country line and partner dancer;
12and
 
13    WHEREAS, Evie Tiemann participated in multiple food and
14reading groups and often gave books to family members as
15gifts; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Evie Tiemann's faith was an integral part of her
17life, and she began every morning by reading a devotional from
18her prayer book; she was also a mentor within the Lutheran
19community; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Evie Tiemann was known for her infectious smile,

1energy, and passion; and
 
2    WHEREAS, At the time of her passing, Evie Tiemann was
3survived by her children, Leslie (Markus) Sleuwen, Kara
4(Jerome) Scott, Nathaniel (Cassi) Tiemann, and Margot (Elias)
5Cepeda; her grandchildren, Alessandra, Spencer, Caleb, Tirzah,
6Sophie, Samuel, Emma, and Tabitha; her brothers, nieces, and
7nephews; and her dancing partner, John; therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
9ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
10Evelyn Francis "Evie" (Fettes) Tiemann and extend our sincere
11condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved
12her; and be it further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Evie Tiemann as an expression of our
15deepest sympathy.
