SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of William "Bill" Kesler, who passed away
4on November 3, 2022; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Bill Kesler was born to Clifford and Frances
6Kesler in Danville on May 3, 1928; he graduated from Danville
7High School in 1946; he earned his degree in Accounting from
8the University of Illinois in 1950; he graduated from the
9University of Illinois College of Law in 1952; he married
10Carol Marie Janson in East Orange, New Jersey in 1954; after
11her passing, he married Beverly Shea in Danville in 1983; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Bill Kesler joined Gunn and Hickman Law after
13graduation; as a lawyer, he became well known throughout the
14Danville area; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Bill Kesler was a strong supporter of the
16Danville community; he formerly served on the boards of
17Springhill Cemetery, the Danville Library, the Danville
18Symphony Foundation, the DACC Foundation, and the Danville
19Country Club; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Bill Kesler was a longtime member of St. James
21United Methodist Church, the Danville Rotary Club, the YMCA,

1and the Danville Country Club; he had a passion for golf,
2golfing at Danville Country Club since he was 14 and playing
3three times a week into his 90s; he also enjoyed cheering for
4the Fighting Illini and the Chicago Cubs; he loved traveling,
5especially taking his annual winter trips to Siesta Key,
6Florida; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Bill Kesler will be remembered for his affable
8personality; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Bill Kesler was preceded in death by his parents;
10his twin brother, Robert Kesler; his wife, Carol; and his
11stepdaughter, Libby Shea; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Bill Kesler is survived by his wife, Beverly
13Kesler; his daughter, Ann (Russ) Covode; his son, John (Amy)
14Kesler; his grandchildren, Leslie Kesler, Becca (Jim) Berry,
15Emma Covode, and Christine Covode; his stepchildren, Dr. John
16(Jennifer) Shea, Jennifer Shea, and Kathleen Shea; and his
17step-grandchildren, John Dickson, Katie Shea, and Jack
18(Ashley) Shea; therefore, be it
 
19    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
20ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
21Bill Kesler and extend our sincere condolences to his family,
22friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further
