SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Robert Eugene "Bob" Poe of Milan, who
4passed away on November 10, 2022; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Bob Poe was born in Kokomo, Indiana on August 3,
61947, and he was adopted shortly after by Homer and Juanita
7Poe; he graduated from Connersville High School in
8Connersville, Indiana in 1965; he joined the U.S. Air Force at
9age 17, where he served in Vietnam and later worked as a
10special agent for the Air Force Office of Special
11Investigations; he graduated from Black Hills State University
12in 1984; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Bob Poe served as the director of several
14national cemeteries under the U.S. Department of Veterans
15Affairs, including the Black Hills National Cemetery in South
16Dakota, Fort McPherson National Cemetery in Nebraska, Fort
17Custer National Cemetery in Michigan, and the Rock Island
18National Cemetery in Illinois; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Bob Poe served his community as a member of many
20organizations; under the Free Masons, he served as a master
21mason and as grand master in multiple locations for many
22years; he was also a member of the Shriners, York Rite,

1Scottish Rite, and Lions Club; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Bob Poe was preceded in death by his parents and
3his previous wife, Teresa Jones Poe; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Bob Poe is survived by his wife, Gail Ann; his
5children, Robert Poe, Aaron Poe, and Rebecca (John) Dorsey;
6his grandchildren, AJ, Tylor, Monique, Anthony, Michael, and
7Aiden; his great-grandchildren, Liam and Lucas; his sisters,
8Pamela (Billy) Reece, Lisa Koohns, and Beth (Jim) Croucher;
9and his half-brother, Richard (Barbara) Rider; therefore, be
10it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
12ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
13Robert Eugene "Bob" Poe and extend our sincere condolences to
14his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
15further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to the family of Bob Poe as an expression of our
18deepest sympathy.
