SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Thomas A. Bump of Silvis, who passed
4away on September 17, 2022; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Thomas Bump was born to Jay Louis and Myrtle
6Block Bump in Moline in 1941; he graduated from Moline High
7School and Illinois State University and completed graduate
8work at the University of Chicago; he served in the U.S. Army
9in Vietnam; he married Roswitha Kuhbier in 1977; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Thomas Bump worked as a high school teacher in
11the Chicago Public School system for several years; he retired
12from the Industrial Relations Department at John Deere
13Harvester; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Thomas Bump was a member of the Vietnam Veterans
15of American Post 299; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Thomas Bump enjoyed traveling, especially to
17Europe; he also enjoyed hiking and attending his annual
18fishing trips to Colorado with his friends; he and his wife
19spent their winters in Florida; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Thomas Bump was preceded in death by his parents

1and his brothers, Bill and Richard Bump; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Thomas Bump is survived by his wife of 45 years,
3Roswitha Bump; his brother, John Bump; his nephew, Jay
4(Michelle) Bump; his niece, Sandra Boehle; his great-nephews,
5Joshua, Jacob, and Lucas; his beloved aunt, Eva Steiner; his
6special uncle, Dr. Kenneth Block; his sisters-in-law, Carol
7Christiansen and Brigitte Boehle; and his large and loving
8extended family; therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
11Thomas A. Bump and extend our sincere condolences to his
12family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
13further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Thomas Bump as an expression of our
16deepest sympathy.
