SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Arnold M. "Arnie" Bochum Jr. of South
4Elgin, who passed away on July 13, 2020; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Arnie Bochum was born in Elgin to Arnold M. and
6Amy J. (Darin) Bochum Sr. on April 14, 1934; he was a lifelong
7resident of Elgin and South Elgin; he was active in scouting
8and achieved Eagle Scout status, earning 36 merit badges with
9Troop 10; he graduated from Elgin High School in 1952, where he
10played baseball, basketball, and percussion in the marching
11band; he served in the U.S. Army and U.S. Army Reserve; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Prior to his retirement, Arnie Bochum worked for
13the Village of South Elgin as a police officer and for the
14Railway Express Agency, Sheldon Manufacturing, the Elgin
15Sweeper Co., and Roberts Express as an OTR driver; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Arnie Bochum was a life member of VFW Post 2327 of
17South Elgin, where he served as a two-term commander in 1991
18and 2003 and as a color guard commander for 20 years; in
19addition, he was a Democratic precinct committeeman for many
20years; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Arnie Bochum was preceded in death by his

1parents, two nephews, a niece, and several of his furry,
2four-legged friends; and
 
3    WHEREAS, At the time of his passing, Arnie Bochum was
4survived by his three sons, Marvin (Debbie DeMarchi) Bochum,
5Michael L. Bochum, and Gerald (Casey) Bochum; his six
6grandchildren; his three great-grandchildren; his brother,
7Gary L. Bochum; and his many nieces, nephews, family, and
8friends; therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
11Arnold M. "Arnie" Bochum Jr. and extend our sincere
12condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
13him; and be it further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Arnie Bochum as an expression of our
16deepest sympathy.
