SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Leonard A. Hylla of Granite City, who
4passed away on May 10, 2022; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Leonard Hylla was born to Steve and Mary
6(Rogaczewski) Hylla in Beaucoup on April 28, 1931; he served
7in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1953; he married Loretta A. Kelio
8at St. Mary's Greek Catholic Church in Madison on May 7, 1955;
9and
 
10    WHEREAS, Leonard Hylla worked for International Shoe
11Company for 22 years; he later began his career with the State
12of Illinois, serving with the Emergency Patrol for a year and a
13half; he then worked for the Secretary of State Police as an
14investigator until his retirement in 1991, after 21 years of
15service; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Leonard Hylla was a faithful member of St. Mary &
17St. Mark Parish in Madison; he was also a member of the Knights
18of Columbus, St. Mary's Booster Club, the American Legion, and
19St. Stanislaus Lodge #1004 in Madison; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Leonard Hylla enjoyed his days of playing golf,
21going to the horse races, and traveling the world with his wife

1and family through the years; he cherished his grandchildren
2and will be remembered for the love and special times shared
3with family and friends; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Leonard Hylla was preceded in death by his
5parents and his eight siblings, Lambert Hylla, Richard Hylla,
6Dolores Carter, Clarence Hylla, Marcella Tilton, Norma
7Schwendemann, Robert Hylla, and Ralph Hylla; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Leonard Hylla is survived by his beloved wife of
967 years; his four children, Judge David (Anita) Hylla, Sister
10Linda Hylla C.D.P., Elaine (Charlie) Dust, and Kurt (Mary)
11Hylla; his six grandchildren, Lauren Dust, Eric Dust, Kyle
12Hylla, Nicholas Hylla, Amelia Hylla, and Madeline Hylla; his
13two sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law, Alberta Mikolaszuk
14and Dorothy and Tom Voloski; his many nieces and nephews; his
15other extended family; and his many friends; therefore, be it
 
16    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
17ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
18Leonard Hylla and extend our sincere condolences to his
19family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
20further
 
21    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
22presented to the family of Leonard Hylla as an expression of
