SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Richard K. Hakanson of Silvis, who
4passed away on April 2, 2022; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Richard Hakanson was born to Elmer and Juanita
6(Rees) Hakanson in Crawfordsville, Iowa on September 21, 1934;
7he served in the U.S. Navy from 1954 to 1959; he married
8Phyllis Cox on February 27, 1960, and she preceded him in death
9in 1997; he later married Barbara (Brand) Bennett in 2000; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Richard Hakanson was employed at John Deere; he
11retired in 1994; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Richard Hakanson was a self-taught, talented
13woodworker and handyman; he loved American history and hot
14rods; he adored all animals, and he was known for helping and
15bringing home stray cats and dogs; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Richard Hakanson was funny, long-winded,
17opinionated, stubborn, tough, and sometimes downright
18cantankerous; he was very proud of and adored Connie
19(Farrance) Brackney, Louis Andre Delouiser, and Cherie
20(Peterson) Husain, his "rug rats"; and

1    WHEREAS, Richard Hakanson was preceded in death by his
2first wife, Phyllis, and his parents; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Richard Hakanson is survived by his wife,
4Barbara; his daughter, Reesa (Kenneth) Douglas; and his
5brother, E. Rees (Kathy) Hakanson; therefore, be it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
7ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
8Richard K. Hakanson and extend our sincere condolences to his
9family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
10further
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12presented to the family of Richard Hakanson as an expression
13of our deepest sympathy.
