SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of John E. Eastman of Moline, who passed
4away on March 30, 2022; and
 
5    WHEREAS, John Eastman was born to Burtis and Cora (Satern)
6Eastman in Moline on May 5, 1932; he served in the U.S. Navy as
7a patternmaker on the USS Prairie from 1952 to 1955; he married
8Jeanette Soenksen at Grace Lutheran Church in DeWitt, Iowa on
9October 13, 1957; and
 
10    WHEREAS, John Eastman worked as a patternmaker at Modern
11Pattern for over 27 years and then at various pattern shops in
12the Quad Cities; and
 
13    WHEREAS, John Eastman was an active member of the Holy
14Cross Lutheran Church in Moline for 65 years; he was an usher,
15involved with the youth group, and a member of the board of
16elders and the property committee; and
 
17    WHEREAS, While in the Navy, John Eastman had the
18opportunity to climb Mount Fuji in Japan; he thoroughly
19enjoyed the experience and sharing the story of it with his
20friends and family; he was an avid Chicago Cubs fan; he enjoyed
21going to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness for

1fishing, tenting, and backpacking with friends and family; he
2loved reading and riding his motorcycle; he was a lover of
3animals, especially his dog, Digger, and his many cats over
4the years; and
 
5    WHEREAS, John Eastman was preceded in death by his
6parents; his brother, Joseph Eastman; his brothers-in-law,
7Dick, Floyd, and Lynn Soenksen; and his best friend, Ray
8Anderson; and
 
9    WHEREAS, John Eastman is survived by his wife; his
10daughters, Jeanne (Kelvin Faur) Eastman and Jill (Wayne)
11Eastman-Foss; his sisters-in-law, Rosella Eastman, Ann
12Soenksen, Judy Soenksen, and JoAnn (Dale) Greve; his
13brother-in-law, Milo (Norma) Soenksen; and his nieces and
14nephews, including Joe Eastman and Becky (Sid) Gardner;
15therefore, be it
 
16    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
17ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
18John E. Eastman and extend our sincere condolences to his
19family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
20further
 
21    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
22presented to the family of John Eastman as an expression of our
