SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of James T. "Jim" Wood of Fulton, who
4passed away on February 16, 2022; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Jim Wood was born to Edward and Agatha (Schell)
6Wood in Moline on June 28, 1942; he graduated from Alleman High
7School in 1960; he was drafted into the U.S. Army, where he
8served on a tour in Vietnam between 1964 and 1966; he married
9Nora on April 8, 1976; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Jim Wood retired in 2002 from the International
11Union of Operating Engineers Local Union 150 after 36 years of
12active service; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Jim Wood was a hardworking family man who always
14provided for and was there for his family; he most loved
15attending family gatherings, grandchildren's events, and game
16nights and spending time with family while fishing, watching
17sports, and working on classic Mustangs; he enjoyed
18woodworking and spending time around the barn; he will be
19remembered for his great stories and the nature walks he took
20with his grandchildren; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Jim Wood was preceded in death by his wife, Nora;

1his parents; and his siblings, Katie, Joseph, and Edward; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Jim Wood is survived by his daughters, Dana
3(William) Barnett-Owens and Bridget (Kevin) McRae-Kurtz; his
4sons, Christopher (Andrea) Barnett, Patrick Wood, and James
5Wood; his sisters, Barbara Schell, Judy Hansen, Mary Bayless,
6Theresa Paulsen, and Patricia (Michael) Sheil; his
7grandchildren, Katie (Adam) Hoagland, Alyssa (Joseph) Fisher,
8Brianna (Doug) Chidester, Larson Barnett, Connor Barnett,
9Alexander Owens, Abigail Owens, Anna Kurtz, Brady Kurtz, and
10Natalie Wood; and his great-grandchildren, Colton Hoagland and
11Kennedy Fisher; therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
13ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
14James T. "Jim" Wood and extend our sincere condolences to his
15family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
16further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18presented to the family of Jim Wood as an expression of our
19deepest sympathy.
