2    WHEREAS, The 2022 Winter Olympic Games are being held
3February 3-20 in Beijing, China; and
4    WHEREAS, The Winter Olympics is a major international
5multi-sport event held once every four years for sports
6practiced on snow and ice; and
7    WHEREAS, More than 220 athletes are representing the
8United States at the Winter Olympics in Beijing, making Team
9USA the largest delegation in attendance; and
10    WHEREAS, Fourteen of the athletes on Team USA are from the
11State of Illinois, and they are competing in figure skating
12singles, figure skating pairs, hockey, ski jumping, and speed
13skating; and
14    WHEREAS, The athletes from Illinois participating in the
15Winter Games are Kevin Bickner from Lake Forest, Megan Bozek
16from Buffalo Grove, Jason Brown from Highland Park, Ethan
17Cepuran from Glen Ellyn, Jesse Compher from Northbrook,
18Kendall Coyne Schofield from Palos Heights, Patrick Gasienica
19from Spring Grove, Savannah Harmon from Downers Grove, Austin
20Kleba from Campton Hills, Alexa Knierim from Addison, Hilary
21Knight from Lake Forest, Casey Larson from Barrington, Emery

1Lehman from Oak Park, and Abbey Murphy from Evergreen Park;
3    WHEREAS, Illinois provides a variety of opportunities for
4athletes to practice winter sports in athletic departments and
5park districts across the State; therefore, be it
7ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we declare February
820, 2022 as "Illinois Winter Olympians Day" in the State of
9Illinois; and be it further
10    RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be
11presented to Kevin Bickner, Megan Bozek, Jason Brown, Ethan
12Cepuran, Jesse Compher, Kendall Coyne Schofield, Patrick
13Gasienica, Savannah Harmon, Austin Kleba, Alexa Knierim,
14Hilary Knight, Casey Larson, Emery Lehman, and Abbey Murphy as
15a symbol of our respect and esteem.
