SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Master Sergeant Barbara L. Freesen,
4Illinois State Police (Ret.) of Springfield, who passed away
5on February 7, 2022; and
 
6    WHEREAS, M.Sgt. Freesen was born to LeRoy Freesen and
7Bonnie (Blair) Freesen in Bluffs on September 7, 1955; she
8received her bachelor's degree from Illinois College, where
9she lettered in basketball and was captain of the tennis team;
10she also coached basketball and softball at Shawnee Community
11College; she graduated as a member of Cadet Class 89 from the
12Illinois State Police Academy in 1994; she married Bonnie
13Miller in Springfield on June 7, 2014; and
 
14    WHEREAS, M.Sgt. Freesen served as a trooper for the
15Illinois State Police for 26 years, retiring as Master
16Sergeant #3808; and
 
17    WHEREAS, M.Sgt. Freesen assisted as a doorkeeper for the
18Illinois Senate and served on the Springfield City Police
19Review Commission; she helped with fundraising for the
20Illinois State Police Museum and was a member of the Heritage
21Foundation; and

1    WHEREAS, M.Sgt. Freesen was preceded in death by her
2father; and
 
3    WHEREAS, M.Sgt. Freesen is survived by her wife, Bonnie;
4her mother, Bonnie Freesen; her twin sister, Beverly (Kirk)
5Reeves; her brother, David (Jeannie) Freesen; her sister,
6Linda (Terry) McFarland; her nieces, Blair, Lauren, Katie, and
7Erin; her nephews, Luke, Tyler, Kyle, and Connor; her stepson,
8Paul (Melissa) Frantz; and her four grandchildren; therefore,
9be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
12Master Sergeant Barbara L. Freesen, Illinois State Police
13(Ret.) and extend our sincere condolences to her family,
14friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of M.Sgt. Freesen as an expression of
17our deepest sympathy.
