SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Ellen Marie Goodner Russell of
4Danville, who passed away on December 25, 2021; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Ellen Russell was born to Gene "Buck" and Mary
6Clearwater Goodner in Danville on October 21, 1956; she
7received her nursing education from what is now the University
8of Indianapolis; she married Jim Russell in Danville on June
928, 1992; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Ellen Russell was a registered nurse; over the
11course of her career, she did almost every job in the nursing
12field except teaching; she was noted by coworkers for serving
13patients with compassion, integrity, and honesty and was
14especially skilled when dealing with difficult cases or
15questions; she began her distinguished career serving the
16disabled residents of Danville Manor and area veterans through
17the VA Illiana Healthcare System and retired as a nurse case
18manager from OSF Sacred Heart Medical Center in Danville; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Ellen Russell and her husband enjoyed traveling
20in recent years; she especially loved going to the beach with
21her granddaughters; she also enjoyed hosting large family
22gatherings at her home; and

1    WHEREAS, Ellen Russell was preceded in death by her
2parents and her older sister, Becky Chambliss; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Ellen Russell is survived by her husband, Jim;
4her stepsons, Brad (Kami) and Brian (Becky); her
5granddaughters, Jeanna, Jillian, Mackenzie, Macie, and Morgan;
6her Goodner brothers, John (Linda), Jeff (Teresa), Steve
7(Sara), and Scott (Barb); her chosen sisters, Gale Defenbaugh,
8Bess Huls, Sharon Detamore, and Barb Calvin; her special
9cousin, Lu Ann Picklap; and her large extended family;
10therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
12ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
13Ellen Marie Goodner Russell and extend our sincere condolences
14to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be
15it further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to the family of Ellen Russell as an expression of
18our deepest sympathy.
