SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Austin Joe McEwen of Caseyville, who
4passed away on December 11, 2021; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Austin McEwen was born in Belleville on March 29,
61995; he graduated from Collinsville High School in 2013 where
7he played baseball and hockey; before playing for
8Collinsville, he played hockey for the O'Fallon Panthers; he
9also played club hockey for the Southern Illinois IceHawks and
10the Affton Americans; his love and passion for the game earned
11him a scholarship to McKendree University where he played for
12the Bearcats for two years; he graduated from Vatterott
13College; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Austin McEwen worked for Amazon as a delivery
15driver; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Austin McEwen was a member of the Wild Rural Park
17Hunting Club; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Austin McEwen loved bird hunting, especially
19pheasants and turkeys, going to concerts, and traveling with
20the love of his life, Sarah Biermann; he had a big heart and
21would do anything for anyone; and

1    WHEREAS, Austin McEwen was preceded in death by his
2maternal grandparents, Jack C. and Doris Merritt Sr.; his
3paternal grandmother, Darlene McEwen; his many aunts and
4uncles; and his dog, Vapor; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Austin McEwen is survived by his parents, Randall
6Joe and Alice (Merritt) McEwen; his love, Sarah Biermann and
7her two sons, Connor and Aiden; his paternal grandfather,
8Billy Joe McEwen; his cousins, Dylan and Dayle McEwen; his
9three aunts, Melody McEwen, April (Steve) Starr, and Donna
10(John) Lowe; his many dear cousins; his friends that were like
11family; and his canine companions, Myst, Bleu, and Delta;
12therefore, be it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
14ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
15Austin Joe McEwen and extend our sincere condolences to his
16family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
17further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to the family of Austin McEwen as an expression of
20our deepest sympathy.
