SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Eugene "Gene" Claire Piersall of
4Colona, who passed away on December 29, 2021; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Gene Piersall was born to Lawrence and Agnes
6(Osterberg) Piersall in Davenport, Iowa on October 19, 1931;
7he attended Davenport High School where he was the Iowa State
8Wrestling Champion for two years and was subsequently inducted
9into the Iowa High School Wrestling Hall of Fame; he served in
10the U.S. Navy; he married Phyllis Nelson in Davenport on
11November 2, 1957, and she passed away in 1987; he married Mary
12Langworthy Gordon in Davenport on June 3, 1989; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Gene Piersall was a member of IBEW Local 145 for
1460 years and last worked at Kohler Electric; he also owned and
15operated Potteramics ceramics shop in East Moline; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Gene Piersall enjoyed fishing and boating; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Gene Piersall was preceded in death by his wife,
18Phyllis; his son, David Piersall; and his three sisters,
19Phyllis Geist, Joyce Shirley, and Shirley Colbert; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Gene Piersall is survived by his wife, Mary; his

1four children, Deanna (Timothy) Richardson, Sherri (Thomas)
2Smith, Keith Piersall, and Tialinda (Chad) Loucks; his eight
3grandchildren, Alicia Dollieslager, Bradley Richardson, Leita
4Richardson, Whitney Smith, Jonathan Clase, Tyler Smith, Anisha
5Vichare, Shaine Mier, Bryant Piersall, and Cassidy Piersall;
6his five great-grandchildren; his two stepchildren, Jerry
7Gordon and Kenneth (Courtney) Gordon; his five
8step-grandchildren, Taylor Gordon, Cameron Moline, Valerie
9Gordon, Halee Gordon, and Justin Gordon; and his brother,
10Edward Berger; therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
12ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
13Eugene "Gene" Claire Piersall and extend our sincere
14condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
15him; and be it further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to the family of Gene Piersall as an expression of
18our deepest sympathy.
