SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Richard J. Mahieu, formerly of Moline,
4who passed away on January 4, 2022; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Richard Mahieu was born to Joseph and Columbia
6(VanDeWalle) Mahieu in Davenport, Iowa on May 24, 1929; he
7served in the U.S. Air Force; he married Raeona Cox on December
824, 1957; he later married Emmi Schultz in Moline on June 29,
91965, and she preceded him in death in 2001; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Richard Mahieu retired from the Moline Fire
11Department after serving for 25 years; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Richard Mahieu was a former member of the
13Ex-Servicemen's Club in Moline; he was an avid rolle bolle
14player and enjoyed gardening; he was proud of his Belgium
15heritage and his service as a fireman; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Richard Mahieu was preceded in death by his
17brothers, Ken Mahieu, Bernie Mahieu, Len Mahieu, and Thor
18Larsen; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Richard Mahieu is survived by his children,
20Conrad Andersen, Joe Mahieu, Sandy Leif, and Lisa (Todd)

1Sears; his grandchildren, James Andersen, Scott (Michelle)
2Andersen, Jessica (Travis) White, Justin Leif, Krystal (Sam)
3Wilson, Joshua Mahieu, Aaron (Kristin) Mahieu, and Gage
4(Laura) Sears; and his 16 great-grandchildren; therefore, be
5it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
7ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
8Richard J. Mahieu and extend our sincere condolences to his
9family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
10further
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12presented to the family of Richard Mahieu as an expression of
13our deepest sympathy.
