SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Gale F. (Richman) Rothner, who passed
4away on October 26, 2021; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Gale Rothner was born in Chicago in 1945; she
6played piano as a child, giving recitals and winning prizes;
7she studied at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago; she
8married Eric "Rickey" Rothner in 1986; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Gale Rothner became a professional artist; she
10also worked at CBS Studios in Chicago for a time; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Gale Rothner, alongside her husband, owned and
12operated Hunter Management, Inc., which manages long-term care
13facilities; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Gale Rothner and her husband were inseparable in
15life, business, and philanthropy; together, they funded major
16Jewish causes, including the Jewish United Fund (JUF), Agudath
17Israel, JCC Chicago, JCFS Chicago, all Chicago-area Jewish Day
18Schools, and many other institutions; they bought the Millard
19House, built by Frank Lloyd Wright in 1906, in Highland Park in
202016; they restored and updated the house for several years
21before gifting it to JUF, with proceeds designated for CJE

2    WHEREAS, Gale Rothner was a member of the Congregation
3K.I.N.S., where she spearheaded a renovation project for its
4building; she was noted for taking on projects others feared
5to tackle, completing them with her personal flair and style;
6she also created exquisite needlepoint work; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Gale Rothner was known for being unassuming,
8quiet, strong, independent, and a fighter; she will be
9remembered as a committed, compassionate, and dedicated woman
10who changed her community and the lives of many; alongside her
11husband, she built legacies in business, philanthropy, and
12communal leadership; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Gale Rothner was the beloved wife of Eric
14"Rickey" Rothner; the loving mother of Kimmi Rudolph, Adam
15(Lisa) Vales, and Katy (Josh) Silvers; the proud grandmother,
16or "Bubby", of 12; and the dear sister of the late Melvyn
17(Betty) Richman; therefore, be it
 
18    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
19ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
20Gale F. Rothner and extend our sincere condolences to her
21family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
